Set of Four Thaden-Jordan Birch Bentwood Chairs
Designed by Herbert von Thaden and Donald Lewis Jordan for their company Thaden-Jordan Furniture located in Virginia, these chairs are examples of the early use of bent birch plywood in furniture making, circa 1940’s. Apparently, Von Thaden’s experience as a pilot and aeronautical engineer contributed to his experimentation with plywood in a variety of applications, including furniture. The chairs retain their original labels. The chairs are in good vintage condition, having been fully cleaned and the finish refreshed but still retain a patina of age and use. Very modern looking, unique chairs. Matching dining table is also available, listed separately.
